Through the organization of the University of Belgrade, the Faculty of Mining and Geology, the Center for Environmental Protection and the Association of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia, the 11th International Conference on Mining and Environmental Protection MEP was held in Sokobanja from 24th to 27th May, 2023.
The opening ceremony was chaired by prof. Ivica Ristovic, president of the organizing committee of the conference. He was the first to address the conference participants. He greeted everyone present and wished them a pleasant stay in Sokobanja. After prof. Ristovic, the president of the Municipality of Sokobanja, Miodrag Nikolic, PhD, also greeted the participants of the conference and officially opened the conference.
Around 70 experts in the field of geology and mining from Serbia, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Slovakia and Germany participated in the conference.
As part of the conference, a special section was held regarding the development of the Project the Future Availability of Secondary Raw Materials (FutRaM), which began on June 1st, 2022 and will play a key role in the safe provision of critical mineral raw materials from the European Union.
