MEP 2021 | Conferences | Association of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia

From September 22nd to 25th, 2021, the Eighth International Conference on Mining and Environmental Protection MEP 2021 was held in Sokobanja, organized by the University of Belgrade, Faculty of Mining and Geology, Center for Environmental Protection, Faculty of Mining and Geology and the Union of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia.

At the conference opening, the conference organizing committee president, professor Ivica Ristovic greeted everyone present, and then recapitulated the 25-year history of holding this international conference.

At the end of his speech, prof. Ristovic announced the Member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Aleksandra Tomic, who thanked for the invitation for participating in the work of such an important international conference. Dr Aleksandra Tomic spoke about strategic and legislative frameworks as factors of supervision over ore mining in the Republic of Serbia.

The next speaker was the representative of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, Dr Aleksandar Jovic, the Assistant Minister for International Cooperation and European Integration.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia, and on his own behalf, Dr Aleksandar Jovic greeted all those present and praised the organizers for the successful organization of the conference. He also emphasized that the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia will always support the organization of scientific gatherings.

The President of the Sokobanja Municipality, Dr Miodrag Nikolic also greeted the participants of this conference. He thanked the organizers for deciding to move this international conference to Sokobanja after 25 years, which is an area known for mining and environmental protection. Dr Miodrag Nikolic also officially opened the Eighth International Conference on Mining and Environmental Protection.

Thirty six professional and scientific papers by domestic and foreign experts were published as a result of this conference. About 50 participants took part, out of which 20 were members of the Union of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia.
