CCM 2025

The Twelfth International Conference Coal and Critical Minerals CCM 2025, organized by the Association of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia, the Yugoslav Committee for Opencast Mining, the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Mining and Geology, the Association of German Mining Engineers, and the Association of Mining and Geology Engineers of the Republika Srpska, was held in Zlatibor at the Hotel Palisad from October 8 to October 11, 2025.

At the 12th International Conference Coal and Critical Minerals CCM 2025, participants included representatives from the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Mining and Geology, School of Electrical Engineering, and Faculty of Mechanical Engineering; the University of Pristina – Faculty of Technical Sciences (Kosovska Mitrovica); the University of Tuzla – Faculty of Mining, Geology and Civil Engineering (BiH); Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University, Engineering Faculty, Department of Mining Engineering (Turkey); and Karadeniz Technical University, Engineering Faculty, Department of Mining Engineering (Turkey). In addition to representatives from these faculties, the conference also included participants from the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia, the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia, the Geological Survey of Serbia, the Mining Institute, the Mihajlo Pupin Institute, the Construction Institute of Macedonia (North Macedonia), and the Geological Survey Ireland (Ireland). The conference participants were welcomed by the Chair of the Organizing Committee, prof. Pavlović, who then gave the floor to Assist. Prof. Ivan Janković, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Mining and Energy of the Republic of Serbia. Assist. Prof. Ivan Janković greeted all attendees on his own behalf and on behalf of the Ministry, wishing them a warm welcome and a successful conference. He then officially opened the 12th International Conference Coal and Critical Minerals CCM 2025, simultaneously wishing all participants a productive and successful conference.

The plenary sessions of the conference were also chaired by prof. Pavlović and prof. Šubaranović. The first presentation in the plenary session was entitled MANAGEMENT OF MINERAL AND OTHER GEOLOGICAL RESOURCES – CHALLENGES AND DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR GEOLOGY AND MINING IN SERBIA, authored by Dragan Ignjatović, Vladimir Pavlović, and Ivan Janković. The paper was presented orally by prof. Ignjatović.

The next presentation in the plenary session was entitled MINING AND THE CRITICAL RAW MATERIALS ACT IN IRELAND, by the first author K. Verbruggen from Ireland. The presentation AVAILABILITY AND RECOVERABILITY OF SECONDARY MINERAL RESOURCES – FUTURAM PROJECT was presented in the plenary session by prof. Ivica Ristović. The following presentation, entitled COKING PROPERTIES AND VALUE-ADDED INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS OF ZONGULDAK BAĞLIK-İNAĞZI COALS, was presented by the first author M. Bilen from Turkey. The final presentation in the first plenary session was a company presentation by ZiJin Copper, delivered by Jovica Radisavljević.

After the first plenary session and a break, a round table entitled CHALLENGES IN IMPLEMENTING THE STRATEGY FOR THE MANAGEMENT OF MINERAL AND OTHER GEOLOGICAL RESOURCES OF THE REPUBLIC OF SERBIA was held, chaired by prof. Dragan Ignjatović. The round table brought together a large number of experts in geology and mining, who actively participated in the discussions.

After the round table and another break, the plenary session continued, chaired by Assist. Prof. Stevan Đenadić. The first presentation in this plenary session, entitled APPLICATION AND ANALYSIS OF THE GEOLOGICAL EXPLORATION LAW IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA AND THE REGION, was presented by Tatjana Blagojević. Following this presentation, five additional papers were presented in the plenary session.

At 18:00, a session of the Assembly of the Association of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia was held, chaired by prof. Šubaranović. As there was no quorum to make legally binding decisions, a new session was scheduled for October 9, 2025, starting at 17:00.

On Thursday, the work and presentations continued, with a total of 17 papers presented. At 17:00, the repeated session of the Assembly of the Association of Mining and Geology Engineers of Serbia was held, chaired by prof. Šubaranović. During the session, the president presented a report on the work of the Association in 2025 and proposed the work plan of the Association for 2026.
